dc.description.abstract This work studies the temperature distribution of drilling fluid inside a wellbore. The model of temperature is derived first by stating different energy sources acting on the fluid and then introducing them into the first law of thermodynamic leading to a set of differential equations. These equations are resolved using the explicit finite difference method. For a more realistic model, the effect of pressure and temperature on mud’s properties is taken into consideration. The model studies the fluid during its transient state, allowing us finally to predict the temperature at each depth, and any time of the drilling operation. The results are compared to the existing results in the literature and are in good agreements. fr_FR
